A flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says he is not perturbed about some party executives and parliamentary members declaring their votes for former President John Mahama.
According to Kojo Bonsu, he is still focused on his campaign.
“I’m not discouraged, no way. I’m still focused, I’m a serious person. It doesn’t discourage me because, during the 2016 elections, there was a big rally in Accra, millions of people were there but after the elections were over, we lost over one million votes.
“So things like this do not frighten me, he said in an interview with Kumasi-base OTEC FM on Tuesday, May 9.
The former Mayor of Kumasi asserted that some of the NDC's election rules and regulations have been flouted.
He added that it is unfair for party executives considered to be neutral to throw their weight behind one aspirant before the polls.
“I’m doing a decent campaign. My issue is that the party has rules and the election regulations say that when you are an executive, you cannot support one person because you are part of the leadership of the party.
“But these things they are doing are wrong. Someone who wants a position would place his/her sticker alongside his contender and that’s not fair. Everybody is doing what they like, is that democracy,” he stressed.
In the same interview, Mr Bonsu backed the call of his contender, Dr Kwabena Duffuor to postpone the party's upcoming primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 13.
He explained that there were some anomalies which he says exist in the party’s voter register and said these infractions have the propensity to affect the election.
