Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North, Suleman Adamu Sanid, has laid the groundwork for the Tepa-Mfanibu and Pakyi Roads construction.
The project, which is projected to complete between seven and ten months, aims to improve roadways to ensure smooth transportation of produce and people.
Residents have long struggled to carry farm produce and other goods in and out of the area, especially during the rainy season.
As a result of the awful state of the road, movement of schoolchildren and sick persons was severely hampered.
However, speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony in Mfanibu, the MP stated that the constituency benefits significantly from the National Cake thanks to his and the government's efforts.
He stated that the minister of roads and highways, as well as the department of feeder roads, had all given their consent for the road to be constructed without further delay.
Mr. Sanid stated that, because the towns rely heavily on agriculture, when completed, the road will greatly contribute to the effective movement of farm inputs and produce to and from market centers.
"This is an Agrarian economy, so we have a lot of cocoa, and other foodstuffs on this stretch, so once the road is constructed and it's in good shape, we will have a lot of foodstuffs getting out of this area to the market centres to feed the country," he noted.
He stated that farmers who abandoned their farms and migrated to cities as a result of the challenge will all return, which will greatly benefit in guaranteeing food security in the Constituency and beyond.
Mr. Sanid promised the community that the project would not be abandoned because the necessary resources had been granted to the contractor to begin and complete the work.
According to Ian Ofosuhene Ahimah, Chief Executive Officer of DeAhimahs Company Limited, the project will be completed in two phases and will cover approximately 39.75 kilometers.
According to him, the first phase would see the completion of the 14.75km Mfanibu to Pakyi road, while the second phase will also see the construction of the 25km Akwasiase to Twabidi route.
He stated that the project will be successfully executed in partnership with BlueTechs, UK Groups Ghana Limited, to ensure its durability.
Mr. Ahimah, although refusing to disclose the contract value, stated that all resources had been made available to execute the job.
He urged communities in the vicinity to collaborate with them in order to complete the project properly.
Nana Appiah Okubu, Chief of Mfanibu, who addressed on behalf of the beneficiary villages, commended the MP and the government for their efforts in developing the area.
He stated that after the project is completed, locals will no longer have to travel or transport food to market centers.
