The ride-hailing app, Bolt, has embarked on a health screening exercise for drivers in the Ashanti Region to ensure they are physically healthy to undertake the task their work requires.
Bolt says it is considering the safety of passengers and drivers in the Ashanti region and other catchment areas. The health assessment will ensure drivers using the ride-hailing app are infection-free and physically capable to drive.
Bolt assessed the medical fitness of drivers across the Ashanti Region to determine if a driver's medical condition affects his ability to drive safely.
Drivers were taken through several functional assessments, including enhanced road assessment, therapeutic assessment, and a road test to determine their fitness to drive.
According to Operation Manager, Roland Fortune Amenu, the health checks are part of their usual employee benefits.
He says this will help discover any medical condition that may bar drivers from driving.
“We are doing this help our drivers. Over the years, we have been doing this to keep them healthy and to keep them on track. This will help discover any medical condition affecting them” he said.
Mr. Amenu indicated that such initiatives are to help ensure drivers also records no casualty.
“We want to ensure that our roads record no accidents”.
Some drivers on the ride-hailing app called for more of such initiatives.
They indicated the health screening will help reduce the rate of accidents in the region.
