This Saturday's special edition of JoyNews' Newsfile focused on the fight against illegal mining, also known as 'galamsey' in the country.
The discussion stems from a leaked 2021 report written by Prof Frimpong Boateng, former Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, and addressed to the Chief of Staff and the police.
Prof Boateng mentioned some people in his report who he claims hampered his efforts and the committee he chaired in dealing with the canker.
A number of government officials and public officials were also named in the report as being involved in 'galamsey' activities in the country. Meanwhile, some officials cited in the report have denied the allegations.
This revelation has caused the public to question the President's mantra of putting his presidency on the line to combat the threat with others arguing that it is merely a figure of speech.
Based on these developments, the analysis programme seeks to answer two major questions: whether Galamsey has defeated the President? And have citizens given up on the canker's existential threat?
