Former Trades Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has presented food items to Muslims in all 47 constituencies in the Ashanti Region, ahead of the 2023 Ramadan festivities.
According to the flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the donation is to celebrate a successful end of fasting.
Ramadan has long been associated with an increase in charity, as individuals, groups, organisations and businesses mark the Holy Month in different ways.
Lasting for 30 days, Ramadan will end on April 21 for the Eid al-Fitr celebration.
The “festival of breaking fast” is a time for great feasts amongst Muslims across the world.
Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, flagbearer hopeful of the NPP chose to support the Muslim communities with bags of rice and sugar to celebrate the 2023 Ramadan.
Former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwaah, who spoke on behalf of the former minister said "As part of the Ramadan festivities, the minister is giving these items to the 47 Muslim communities in the constituencies."
He stated that Alan's vision to 'modernise the Muslim communities when he becomes president is still intact."
Earlier, Mr. Kyerematen presented some items to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Abdul Mummin.
"We're grateful the minister has remembered us this holy month. For giving this to the Muslim communities signifies a lot to us," he said.
