The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) in collaboration with Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) will organize an Invitational National Athletics Championship at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi in April.
The maiden edition of the athletics has the goal of identifying and grooming budding talents to represent Ghana during the African Youth and Junior Championship slated for Lusaka, Zambia this year.
The Championship will be held between April 3 and April 6, 2023, at the Kumasi sports stadium.
A letter from the GES, sighted by Luv Sports, asked all Regional Directors of Education to ensure the attached list of schools are notified on time to prepare and participate in the competition.
The GES also confirmed all male students will be housed at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School whilst that of the female athletes will be at T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School during the competition period.
Twenty-three schools, including OKESS, KASS, AMASS, OWASS and Kumasi Girls, have been selected from the Ashani region. Three schools were chosen from the Central region and they will be joined by one school from the Western region.
Thirty male and female athletes together with three coaches shall represent each school for the inter-school athletics championship.
In the end, the selected young athletes will begin camping from April 10 to prepare for the African Championship in Zambia from 27th April 2023 to 4th May, 2023.
