Rapper Medikal has revealed that Sister Derby least expected to collaborate with him years after their break up.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he stated that following their break up they had not communicated or reached out to each other in any way.
Thus, when he called her requesting they collaborate, Sister Derby was surprised, Medikal told Andy Dosty on Monday.
“We weren't vibing (after the break up). I just reached out to her (recently) and said that ‘I recorded a song and I think I hear you on the song.
"She was surprised that I wanted a verse from her and I called,” the ‘La Hustle’ hitmaker said.
When asked if the collaboration was an attention-seeking tactic, Medikal said that “ whenever someone features an artiste, the main goal for that feature is to get more traffic for that song. So, of course, it was to let people pay attention to the song, stream and entertain my audience.”
This comes after rapper Medikal dropped a collaboration with singer Sister Derby, years after their breakup.
The song titled ‘Cold & Trophies’ is in two parts with Medikal performing solo in the first and sharing the stage with Sister Derby in the second.
Sharing a snippet of the track on her Instagram page, Sister Derby wrote “Bestie things 🧸.”
Fella Makafui an avid fan of her husband, however, did not publicly acknowledge the collaboration which led many to speculate especially when she shared some posts of herself on the day of the release.
But Medikal has dispelled those rumours stating that his wife is completely okay with the collaboration.
