Sports journalist Daniel Koranteng has joined the Multimedia Group.
Having left Omni Media in January after seven years, the broadcaster is the latest addition to the Joy Sports team, where he expects his craft to be nurtured and honed some more.
He is keen to bring his keen analytical skill and straight-talking style across the city from Adabraka to Kokomlemle.
"I had a lovely and fulfilling time at Citi FM/TV, and I feel ready for the next step," Koranteng says.
As a Hearts of Oak and Manchester United fan, he is probably one of the coolest and relatable characters in Ghanaian sports broadcasting today. He is also known for his withering tongue, reserved only for anti-Phobians, trolls of the Red Devils, and a certain tennis superstar.
Most of all, perhaps, is the phrase he is known by - ‘Oh Chale!’ - which caught on as a consequence of his humorous way of teasing rivals and self-deprecation.
"I’m honoured to join such a talented group, and together, we will continue to produce nothing short of the best sports content for our audiences."
Daniel's peculiar alter ego, ‘The Oracle’, appears anytime sporting predictions are required, making him a must-listen for those who favour the punting circles.
"We are delighted to have persuaded Mr. Koranteng to join our project. He brings an extra edge to the team, and is definitely a favourite of the audiences we look to hook to the Joy brand," says Gary Al-Smith, Team Lead for Sports, Joy Brands (Joy FM, Luv FM, Joy News, Joy Prime, Hitz FM and Myjoyonline).
The proud alumni of Achimota School and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is also an unrepentant fan of Novak Djokovic in particular, and tennis in general, as well as athletics.
In a first for Ghanaian radio, Koranteng will be "initiated" - just as is done for football players as they are unveiled at new clubs - on Joy FM in a special, not-to-be-missed radio show on Friday, 10th March at 1:15pm.
The show will be on radio on Joy 99.7 FM, streamed on this website as well as on Twitter Spaces.
Motivation for the young talent comes from DJ Khaled's global hit, 'God Did!', frequently telling his spirit: "You either win with us, or you watch us win. God did!"
