Enoch Morisson scored the only goal of the game as Asante Kotoko their first win in their last three games in the betPawa Ghana Premier League.
The winger's strike in the 21st minute of the encounter sees the Porcupine Warriors go five points behind league leaders Aduana FC, who were held at home by King Faisal.
Prior to the win over Bechem, Kotoko had won non of their last three games across all competitions, suffering losses to Dreams FC and Aduana Stars, the latter ensuring they were knocked out of the MTN FA Cup.
In other games, Bibiani GoldStars secured a 2-0 win over Nsoatreman at Duns Park courtesy of goals from Abednego Tetteh and Godfred Kyei.
Berekum Chelsea also earned a narrow win over Samartex with Accra Lions beating Karela United 2-1 away from home.
Legon Cities and Tamale City played out a 1-1 draw.
