Former President, John Mahama has assured members of the Assemblies of God Church that the construction of the church's centenary village will be successful.
According to him, the project 'will not suffer the fate of some national cathedrals'.
In what appeared to be a deriding of the now stalled National Cathedral project, Mr Mahama, a member of the church said he will put his shoulders behind the wheel to ensure the successful completion of the project.
He made these comments during the inauguration of the church's new General Superintendent, Reverend Stephen Wengam.
"... Our Centenary Village is going to be bigger and more beautiful than the [Pentecost Convention Centre]. And may it not suffer the fate of some national cathedrals that I know" he said.
Mahama continued, "We shall build this one, and I'll be be one of the chief fundraisers".
It is estimated that, the Assemblies of God Church began operations in Ghana around 1931. The Church is therefore readying itself to mark 100 years of its existence in the country.
The Centenary Village is one of the projects the church intends to commission in the not too distant future.
This Mr Mahama said must be done to rival the Pentecost Convention Centre, which his party's former chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo boasts about.
Meanwhile, Mahama has called on church leaders to speak truth to power.
According to him, the church, which serves as the moral conscience of society, must not be passive in the governance of the country.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of the new General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Mr Mahama said the church must not be selective when criticising those at the helm of the country’s affairs.
In his view, development will be far advanced if the church comments boldly on national issues regardless of whose ox is gored.
