US-based sports and education foundation, Soccer for Dreamers, has for the second year running, donated football gear to some selected male and female football clubs in Ghana.
The gear includes boots, jerseys, shin guards, and balls, among others.
Male football teams, Strong Tower FC of Nima, Tema-based True Democracy FC and Powerlines FC of Kotobabi were beneficiaries.
At the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association, renowned dietitian Renee Opare-Otoo sensitized the boys on the need for proper nutrition for optimal performance. The boys were served a hot meal at the end of the session.
Beneficiary male clubs were grateful to Soccer For Dreamers for its kind gesture.
"We can't thank them enough. They have solved a big problem facing juvenile clubs in Ghana. Their contribution towards grassroots football development in Ghana is immense", Michael Fiaduse, Chairman of Powerlines FC told JoySports in an exclusive interview.
Anlo Ladies from Woe, Accra-based Faith Ladies and Rootz Sistas from Somanya, also received football gear.
President of Soccer for Dreamers, Sylvia Akwaboah, accompanied by Ghana's Coordinator, Stephane Lecosson, took the girls through the importance of menstrual hygiene, menstrual cups, their benefits and sustainability.
Menstrual cups were donated to the girls at the end of the seminar. The cups come in handy for the female football players as many of them are unable to afford menstrual pads.
In 2022, Soccer for Dreamers donated football gear to selected juvenile football clubs in Tema and the three top zonal Women's Premier League clubs.
Soccer For Dreamers, now a registered non-profit organization in New Jersey, USA, uses football as a tool to create positive change for underprivileged individuals, families and communities in Ghana.
