Corruption is now fighting back Ablakwa – Sulemana Braimah

The Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has indicated that North Tongu MP, Okudzeto Ablakwa, is being pursued over his recent attempts to expose corruption.

In a tweet on Thursday, he said part of the attempts to sabotage Mr Ablakwa include an allegation about his ownership of an unregistered farm.

"Hon @S_OkudzetoAblak has been fighting corruption. Now corruption is fighting him back. We are being told he has an unregistered Farm", the tweet said.

It continued, "Well, let me run to register my plantain farm before I am accused of operating an unregistered farm".

The comments by the MFWA boss comes on the back of recent reports about how some operatives of the National Security have been deployed by government to monitor the movements of Mr Ablakwa.

This was made known by former Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak, in a Facebook post on February 8, 2023.

It is believed that the alleged attempts by the state to have Mr Ablakwa monitored are linked to his recent exposé about the Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Reverend Victor Kusi-Boateng.

In a series of publications over the past few weeks, Mr Ablakwa has been criticising the preacher for deliberately creating multiple identities in a bid to defraud the state and engage in illegal transactions.

He has subsequently asked the court to restrain Mr Ablakwa from publishing such defamatory content about him.

Meanwwhile, supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region have warned that they will hold government accountable if Mr Ablakwa is harmed.

Sorkpa Agbleze, the Volta regional communication officer of the NDC made this known in a statement today, Wednesday, February 16.

Earlier, the North Tongu Constituency issued a similar warning.

In a strongly-worded statement, the constituents say they have observed how the MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is being heckled in his quest to hold government accountable.

According to the aggrieved party folks, the attempts to prevent Ablakwa from lawfully performing his duties is an indication of government’s “penchant for fighting anybody who shows an aversion towards corruption”.
