The Head Pastor of the Christian Center Assembly of God in Kumasi, Rev. Osei Karikari Annor, has said that men’s major purpose in marriage is not for love, affection, and sex but rather for peace and stability.
He made these comments on Prime Morning during a discussion with KMJ on why there are many breakups in recent marriages.
According to the pastor, the main aim of every man is to build a home of peace and stability, which is the reason some men are unable to marry women they may love.
"A man can love you, a man can have affection for you but will still not marry you. We don’t marry for love, affection, or sex. We marry for stability [that is, peace], which is what every man is looking for. That is why we hear a lot of men say, ‘I love her, but I can’t marry her’," he said on Thursday.
He also believes that marriage to a woman should not be about appearance or education, but rather about her ability to maintain peace and stability.
Rev. Karikari further opined that the current generation of women should inculcate the habit of respect and humility as their mothers have done for the past years. He said no woman can solve her marital issues by fighting or quarreling.
On the other hand, he entreated men to avoid being authoritative over their wives, as it may be a contributory factor to disrespect.
"If you’re always going to exert your authority by always shouting at the woman, at a point in time, she will be fed up with your authoritative nature and also bounce back and talk back at you."
He urged all men to be caring, protective, and loving toward their wives and children.
