The boys made history when they beat Ghana SHS, Koforidua and Kumasi Sec. Tech to take their school to the semi-finals for the first time.
Following their feat in the 2022 WASSCE, Alex Opoku Manu is reading medicine at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Benjamin Eyram Degbey is studying Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Academic City.
The boys first came into the NSMQ competition as the Bono-Ahafo Zonal Champions. They won their preliminary stage contests with one of the highest points of the day.
They also beat NSMQ favourite and 2018 champions, St Peter's SHS at the one-eighth stage to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
Alex and Eyram then beat GHANASS and Kumasi Sec Tech with an impressive 44 points in the quarterfinals.
The boys then faced contest favourites Presec Legon and Kumasi High School in the semi-finals.
They may have exited at the stage after failing to beat Presec but they gave the 2022 NSMQ champions a tough battle.
St James Sem is now a seeded school for the first time in NSMQ history thanks to ALex and Eyram.
