Afro-pop artiste Camidoh says his song Sugarcane did not become a hit by chance.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Qwame Larbi on Daybreak Hitz, the young singer revealed that he heavily invested in the song to make it a hit.
According to him, marketing is one aspect that most artists don’t put a lot of effort into in music production.
He is, therefore, advising his colleagues to be more intentional about music marketing.
“Not everything is based on luck let no one tell you that it’s not your time to blow. Marketing is the god of all. We need to be intentional about this.”
Camidoh’s Sugarcane remix became a monster hit in 2022. The song peaked at number one on various music charts.
Speaking in the interview, Camidoh stressed that he has come to understand that marketing is a major tool to get one’s songs to reach a very high level.
“I decided that because Sugarcane is a beautiful record, therefore, I chose to invest and promote it on various platforms. I paid for the job to be done.”
He added that one of the reasons why Nigerian music is thriving and going global is because they have understood the art of marketing their music to reach people globally.
“Sometimes it’s not about the product quality but it’s about intentionally marketing products from this country.”
After a very fruitful 2022, Camidoh has dropped his much anticipated EP dubbed; ‘A Lifetime is Not Enough’.
The project is made up of 6 songs and features artists like Cina Soul. The project is out on all digital stores.
