Ghana U-17 national team head coach, Karim Zito, has expressed regret for not applying for the Black Stars coaching job.
The 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning coach with Ghana's Black Satellites believes he is equipped to lead Ghana to success.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Kessben FM, he said, "I regret not throwing my hat in the ring. I sincerely believe I am qualified for the role."
Despite his disappointment, Zito has faith in the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appoint a coach who is both experienced and capable of leading the team to the next level.
"I trust they (GFA) will appoint a competent and experienced coach to guide the team and develop the young talented players."
So far, Kwasi Appiah, who had two stints with the Black Stars, is the only Ghanaian to confirm applying for the job.
JoySports understands Chris Hughton is leading the race to be named the new Ghana coach after he was shortlisted alongside former Egypt boss Hector Cuper and Manchester United assistant coach Stephen McClaren for the position.
The Black Stars coaching job has been vacant since Otto Addo stepped aside after Ghana exited at the group phase of the 2022 World Cup.
