Victor Kwesi Mensah known in showbiz as Vic Mensa says his uncle Abrekyireba Kofi Sammy of the Okukuseku International Band inspired his music career.
“My uncle is the reason why I have music. He gave me the music. My uncle is the legendary Chief Kofi Samuel of Okukuseku International Band,” he told JoyNews' Becky on the sidelines of the Black Star Line Festival.
He added that it was a privilege for him to honor his uncle while he is still alive.
“It’s a full circle moment for me to be able to honor him, respect him and give him his flowers in the sunset of his life.”
Halfway through his performance at the Black Star Line Festival, Vic Mensa introduced his uncle to the rest of the world.
Vic is an American rapper and singer. He was a member of the group 'Kids These Days', which broke up in May 2013.
After that he released his debut solo mixtape Innanetape. He is currently signed to Roc Nation.
