The Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate is retooling its facilities for improved access to healthcare delivery this year.
Director, Yaa Manu, says a comprehensive plan is being implemented to ensure effective participation of the private sector in achieving the target.
“No facility has had enough logistics. So we are working to get every facility properly tooled. It will go a very long way to ease struggles of health workers in these facilities and also help promote health of indigenes in these catchment areas”, she said.
According to the Directorate, efforts are being made through the local assembly to expand healthcare by building new facilities in smaller communities.
Though these facilities are tooled, there are deficits.
The Directorate is appealing to Non-Governmental Organisations and other institutions for support.
A local NGO, Fifty 50 Club, has already responded to the appeal for beds and other medical equipment, by donating equipment worth over thirty-four thousand cedis.
Ntonsua and Nsokote-Anomabo CHPS compounds are among the beneficiaries.
“Any time we talk about the club, I thank my members for contributing money on monthly basis to support the cause”, Founder of the NGO, Jacob Edmund-Acquah said.
Two individuals in need of financial support for surgeries also received cash support from the NGO, while assorted food items worth about GHC7,000 were donated to Patmos Children’s Home in the Adansi Asokwa district.
