A 28-year-old mobile money vendor, identified as Michael is battling for his life at Winneba Trauma and Specialist hospital after being shot by two armed robbers on a motorbike.
The incident happened on Friday morning at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
According to sources, the victim had gone to the public toilet to ease himself when he was attacked.
In an interview with JoyNews' Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, the public toilet operator who is the eyewitness explained that the robbers attacked them minutes after the mobile money vendor arrived at the scene.
The operator said although they stole his money, he was not shot.
“I was here when Brother Michael came to collect toilet paper. He stood there to watch TV after I gave him the paper and that is when I heard voices asking him for his money," he explained.
"They were two robbers on a motorbike, one came to me and the other went to Michael. I took to my heels after giving them my money and that is when I heard a gunshot,” he added.
The operator noted that they also took the mobile money vendor’s cash after they shot him.
