Catering is one of the world’s top growing industries and food safety in this field is a major concern for business operators and customers.
Ensuring food does not cause adverse effects on a customer’s health is now an essential requirement according to national and international standards.
In this vein, the office of the Assembly Member for Anyako, in collaboration with KEMLLYS Culinary School, has organized a free catering training for 50 youth from Anyako Konu Seva in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region.
The training which was sponsored by the CEO of KEMLLYS Culinary School, Dr. Mrs. Tiffany Kpornu - Dawson [Bosso] and held in the school’s premises in Accra was aimed at equipping the youth with employable skills and to help them become financially independent.
In an interview with Dr. Mrs. Tifany Kpornu –Dawson [Bosso], she advised the youth to take the many opportunities available to them and make good use of it in order to excel in life. She noted that she owes it as a duty to impact positively on the lives of the youth.
"I owe it a duty to give back to my communities and the entire country by impacting on our youth with employable skills to help them become financially independent," she said
The CEO urged the participants to take the training seriously and improve on their lives.
She also appealed to government to consider establishing more vocational and technical institutions in order to help the youth secure gainful employment.
The Assemblyman for the Konu Anyako Seva, Mr. Wisdom Seade, who partnered with the KEMLLYS Culinary School noted that many of the youth are idle, thus there is the urgent need to help them learn a trade and earn a living out of it.
Mr. Seade noted that the youth are the future leaders and must be well equipped with the requisite skills to face the future
"You are the future leaders and must be well equipped with the needed skills," Mr. Seade said.
Some of the youth who have also been speaking with JoyNews noted how the training will greatly improve their lives
6 young men out of the 50 youth emerged winners from the training and were awarded prizes including equipment to start up their businesses.
