Ghanaian satirist and media personality, Kwaku Sintim-Misa popularly known as KSM, has urged the government to cut down the number of ministers and presidential staffers amidst the prevailing economic hardship.
In an exclusive interview on JoyNews’ AM Show, Wednesday, KSM added his voice to that of Ghanaians calling for drastic change in the governance of the country.
“I think the first point of call is how we cut the numbers; how much money we’re using to pay presidential staff. Cut the ministers. Cut all these extravagant things,”, he said.
KSM said the government is focusing on solving the problems without paying attention to the “loopholes” that are draining the country.
He noted that should a subsequent government focus on sealing the loopholes, they would be doing the right thing.
He said the 2023 budget would not achieve its intended purpose should the loopholes remain unfixed.
“The solution is to seal the leaks. I think there are too many leaks in this country. And the government that will come and decide to seal all these loopholes would have gotten it right. You can’t be talking about budget yet at the same time, we have all these loopholes that are open and draining this country”, he added.
Over the past few months, both ordinary citizens and experts have called on President Akufo-Addo to reduce the number of ministers and presidential staffers as part of measures to revive the economy, but to no avail.
