Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans and Opportunity International Germany is promoting a clean and green environment in basic schools to improve sanitation.
The initiative is to inculcate the habit of cleaning among basic school children at the early stage.
Three basic schools in the Ashanti Region won the Jan Binder Award spearheaded by Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans for most clean and green schools for 2022.
The Jan Binder Awards was instituted to acknowledge schools that adhere to a cleaner environment and prioritize the good health of school children.
It considers schools that have clean classrooms with waste bins which are emptied regularly, decent toilet facilities, clean compounds with hand washing facilities and green environments among others.
"These schools have emerged winners for keeping their schools clean and green. Sinapi Aba believes a clean and green environment is very important to the growth of a child, it also means that infections in schools can be prevented" Programs Manager, International and Partner Relations at Sinapi Aba, Mrs. Araba Mosner- Ansong noted.
Royal Choice Academy received an award of GHC20,000, Unique Educational Complex had GHC13,050 and Precious Academy also received GHC 7,050 with accompanying citations.
Co-owner of Royal Choice Academy, Solomon Asamoah revealed that the school has invested to achieve a clean and green environment.
He however acknowledged Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans and Opportunity International Germany for crowning the school as winners of the Jan Binder Awards.
"Sanitation and environmental issues are very important to Royal Choice Academy. We've spent a lot of money greening the school environment and educating the students on keeping the environment clean," he said.
