Queen Mother of the Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional Area has said that women should take personal screening seriously in order to lessen their chances of contracting the fatal disease.
Nana Serwaa Nyarko's comment comes after a woman in the area passed away from the illness.
Speaking on behalf of the Queen Mother during a breast cancer awareness event in the area, her spokesperson, Nana Ama Pokuah, warned ladies to refrain from actions that would endanger their breasts.
"I didn't even know a woman died in this area through breast cancer. So I will like to advise every woman to take the breast cancer screening very seriously," she said.
Nana Pokuah went on to say that moms should push their children, especially the ladies, to have regular screenings.
"You should understand that every woman can contract the disease whether young or old," she added.
She warned ladies against applying herbs and other traditional treatments to adolescent girls' breasts because doing so could have long-term negative implications.
Dr. Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, the president of Breast Care International (BCI), also advised ladies against using Skin lightening creams, noting that these products have been frequently cited as danger factors all over the world.
She emphasized that in order to lower their risk of developing breast cancer ladies should stop eating fatty foods.
Dr. Wiafe-Addai commended the Queen Mother and her people for their large turnout and advised them to instill the habit of routine checks.
Hundreds of women benefitted the free breast cancer screening kind courtesy of Delta Airlines.
