Sanlam Life Insurance Ghana Limited in partnership with Lapaz Community Hospital on October 31, organised free breast cancer screening and counselling for women in Santana Market at Tesano in Accra.
This year's theme; “Together we can save lives and inspire hope”, forms part of Sanlam Life Insurance’s mantra “we all deserve an equal chance to live a better life..” to mark this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, which is celebrated every October.
Apart from breast cancer screening, market women were also educated on breast cancer, its symptoms, and treatment.
Other health screening exercises were also undertaken by the medical practitioners of the partner hospital.
The exercise witnessed a large crowd of both market traders as well as individuals partaking and paying keen attention to their health and well-being.
There was also a call by the women to extend this screening to other places to enable neighbouring communities to benefit from this exercise and get their breasts screened and educated on the disease.
There was total satisfaction from participants of this exercise as many confessed that it had become a lifesaver for them.
