Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, has indicated that construction work on the deplorable Kwabre roads in the Ashanti Region will kick off in three weeks.
Though he did not give details of the roads that will be upgraded, the Minister said Kwabre East and West areas will see contractors mobilize to the site in less than a month.
Residents of Kwabre East have on several occasions hit the streets to protest the poor state of road networks in the area.
They include the Antoa road linking Sakora Wonoo, the hometown of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John, a former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party.
Others are; the Kenyasi-Adwumam-Fawode, the Aboaso-Mpobi-Wawase roads, Maase-Aduman-Buoho road, and Afrancho-Ntiribuoho stretch.
Mr. Amoako-Attah said a major contractor working on deplorable roads in both Kwabre East and West will soon mobilise to the site.
"We are aware of the work we have to do in Kwabre East and West, as well as Manso areas. Everything is based on the plan. As we speak, we have Introduced one major contractor who will mobilize and move to site within the next 3-weeks.
"You will witness massive road works in Kwabre East and West. Within 3 weeks, you will see the kind of contractors who are going to be mobilised to Kwabre East and West," he added.
The sector minister made the remarks at a sod-cutting ceremony for the Suame Interchange project on Tuesday.
Similar projects, according to him, would soon be done in the Manso area.
Present at the event was the Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Francisca Oteng.
