Mobile voice subscriptions stood at 40.98 million in June 2022, a 0.10% increase over May 2022.
According to the National Communications Authority (NCA), the total penetration rate for the month under review was 130.37%.
MTN still controlled the market with 63.06% of the market share in the first six months of 2022.
Its voice subscriptions for the period was 25.848 million, representing a percentage increase of 0.42% from May 2022’s figure of 25.739 million.
However, Vodafone’s mobile voice subscriptions decreased from 7.437 million as of the end of May 2022 to 7.323 million as of the end of June 2022. This represents a percentage decrease of 1.53%.
Its market share for June 2022 stood at 17.87%.
Similarly, AirtelTigo’s voice subscriptions however decreased from 6.978 million as of the end of May 2022 to 6.826 million as of the end of June 2022, indicating a percentage decrease of 2.17%.
Its market share for the month under review was 16.66% as compared to 17.04% in June 2022.
On the other hand, voice subscriptions of Glo increased from 794,288 as of the end of May 2022 to 989,965 at the end of June 2022.
With a percentage increase of 24.64%, its total market share for the month under review was 2.42%.
Data subscription
The total subscriptions of data in the country at the end of June 2022 was 23.723 million.
MTN led the pack with 17.013 million mobile data subscriptions at the end of June 2022.
Its market share for the month under review was 72.16%.
The total number of subscriptions for Vodafone’s mobile data in June 2022 was however 3.187 million. This is reflected in its market share of 13.52%.
Also, AirtelTigo’s mobile data subscriptions for June 2022 was 3.132 million. Its market share for the month was 13.29%.
Glo, however, recorded data subscription figures of 244,109 at the end of June 2022.
This reflects a market share of 1.04%.
The penetration rate for the period stood at 75.46%.
