The Rotary Club of Ho has donated some personal protective equipment to the Ho Municipal Health Directorate in support of the ongoing national polio vaccination campaign.
The equipment which included packs of water, hand sanitisers and nose masks would aid the vaccinators, supervisors and mobilizers in effectively delivering their core mandate.
The donation falls under the Disease Prevention and Treatment area of focus of the Rotary Club.
This is the second support extended by the Club to health officials since the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2019.
The president of the Rotary Club of Ho, Simon Fafali Awumey said it was paramount to ensure the safety of the vaccination team and the beneficiaries hence the donation of the protective equipment.
He entreated parents to avail their children to be vaccinated against polio to ensure their safety and development.
“Caregivers and parents are encouraged to ensure their children under five years old are available for polio vaccination between 1st - 3rd September and 6th- 9th October anywhere the vaccination teams may be, so that Africa and Ghana can see an end to all types of polio once and for all”, he said.
The Ho Municipal Health Director, Victoria Kpeli, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Ho for considering the safety of the vaccination teams and proving them with PPE.
Rotary International has been one of the organisations that have invested heavily in the eradication of polio across the world.
Members have contributed nearly $890 million toward eradicating the child killer disease in Africa.
The Rotary District 9102 under the leadership of District Governor, Victor Asante, is championing the polio vaccination project in Ghana, to ensure all eligible children are vaccinated to eradicate the disease from the West African country and create a safe environment for the development of the Ghanaian child.
