Political marketing analyst at the University of Ghana, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s election of Stephen Ayensu Ntim as its chairman offers fresh ideas to it.
Dr. Kobby Mensah said the new chairman is someone who knows the party well.
According to him, his wealth of knowledge in political organisation will help the party going forward.
Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show on Monday, he added that even though the election of an entirely new chairman will be challenging for the party, he envisages it will be a positive one.
“Now this is a chairman who has been with the party from almost its beginning, he is well known within the party, he is very much aware of the party’s background and its culture, etc, and I am sure that the party’s structures in terms of membership are aware of someone who is there are own.”
"So for me, I think he brings authority and a new face of ideas into the fold of the NPP. So I think it is a very fresh challenge but a very positive challenge," he explained.
Ayensu Ntim polled 4,014 out of total valid votes cast of 5,552 to beat his contenders in the national executive elections organised over the weekend.
This was his fifth time contesting for the position after four unsuccessful attempts.
His closest contender, Asamoah Boateng trailed him with 1,010 votes.
In a related development, John Boadu lost his position to Justin Frimpong Kodua.
He polled 2,524 of 5,556 total valid votes cast whereas his Justin Frimpong Kodua polled 2,837 to win the category.
