Senior high schools across the country are on the verge of being shutdown as the food shortage situation worsens.
The Education Ministry has admitted the shortage of food supplies in the various schools across the country and has attributed the situation to a delay in food supplies by the government.
The development has caused further agitation amongst heads of senior high schools across the country.
The Eastern Regional Chapter of CHASS is the latest to serve notice of a possible shutdown of the schools should government fail to deliver the supplies by the end of this week.
However, Public Relations Officer for the Education Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng says government is ready to supply some 10,000 bags of sugar and 60,000 bags of rice to schools across the country.
In an interview on Newsnight, Tuesday, he said the supplies would be made to schools in the Greater Accra Region, Ashanti Region and the Upper West Region adding that the Ministry has already dispatched trucks to deliver these supplies to various schools.
