Reggae/Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is grateful to have his false publication case wrapped up.

This was after he was convicted and fined ¢2000 for pleading guilty to the publication of false news causing fear and panic.

Taking to Twitter, Shatta Wale shared a picture of himself and his lawyer, adding “free at last 🙏.”

The ‘My Level’ hitmaker thanked his lawyer, Jerry Avenogbor and his fans for standing with him throughout the case.

He wrote, “FREE AT LAST🙏. Being thankful and expressing gratitude is an important part of being happy in life. I wish to take this opportunity to say thank you to my Lawyer, Jerry, the Judge, Shatta Movement and the entire nation for the support through these trying times. #OnGod.”

This comes after he pleaded guilty to publishing false news on Wednesday, June 29.

The Court presided over by Emmanuel Essandoh delivered a non-custodial sentence and fined the musician an amount of ¢2,000.

If Shatta Wale fails to pay the fine, he will be liable to spend three months in jail.

Shatta Wale spent a week in police custody after he turned himself in

In 2021, Shatta Wale had fabricated a story claiming he had been attacked and shot by some unknown individuals – but it turned out to be a hoax.

He was charged with publishing fake news, together with some accomplices. They initially denied the charge.

Meanwhile, speaking to Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, the lawyer for Shatta Wale, Jerry Avenogbor, noted that he did not know why the singer decided to change his plea.

Mr Avenogbor said they later pleaded with the Court for mitigation, especially since the musician was a first-time offender who had shown remorse.
