Nigerian singer Tems was awarded the Best International Act on Sunday at the 2022 BET Awards ceremony.
The musician, born Temilade Openiyi, beat competition from her fellow Nigerian Fireboy, Dave (UK), Dinos from France and Fally Ipupa from Congo.
Others nominated in the category included Little Simz from the UK, Ludmilla from Brazil, Major League Djz from South Africa, and Tayc from France.
During her acceptance speech, Tems noted that it was an honour for her to receive the award.
She dedicated the win to everyone striving to achieve their dreams, urging them to continue the hard work.
"I want you to imagine yourself as me because you are meant to be here too. I am dedicating this to every single young woman, artiste, and everybody that is striving and dares to dream. Get up from your seat, go for your dream and fight for yourself. You can do it; you can be here too," she said.
Tems was also nominated in the Best New Artiste category alongside Muni Long, Yung Bleu, Latto and baby Keem. Unfortunately, she lost the award to Latto.
Meanwhile, the remix of Wizkid's 'Essence' Best Collaboration. Tems, who was featured on the song, accepted the award on behalf of Wizkid.
