Efficient tracking and reporting on the selected government flagship initiatives are receiving a boost as the government begins revision of the programmmes' frameworks.
The move is meant to ensure the sustainability of the programmes.
Government initiatives such as planting for food and jobs, one village, one dam, one district and one factory have been instrumental in the development of the country.
The government, therefore, directed each of the sector ministries to identify three high-priority programmes to be included in the Government Results Framework for High Priorities (GRFHP) which spanned from 2017 to 2020.
It served as the key monitoring and evaluation framework for government priority policies and projects.
The framework helped the government to assess the performance of the programmes.
The 5-day workshop in Kumasi is therefore meant to review the GRFHP (2017-2020). It is been attended by persons from MDAs implementing the flagship programmes
According to the National Coordinator of the Monitoring and Evaluation Secretariat, Gifty Ohene-Konadu, the meeting will discuss the key components of the GRFHP (2017-2020) and develop a new framework that will focus on the flagship programmes spanning the period 2021 to 2024.
An action plan will also be developed to enhance the design and implementation of the next phase.
“Indeed as participants, you have been entrusted with a unique responsibility to develop a framework with key performance indicators (KPIs) to facilitate effective tracking and reporting on the selected flagship programmes,” she is optimistic.
The secretariat works closely with sixteen Regional Coordinating Councils in the country for proper coordination.
Beatrice Kwarteng Osei Asare spoke on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah.
“It is important that best practices are adopted from both ends to regularly track the implementation and impact of the numerous ongoing projects in our regions,” he said,
The project is funded by the World Bank.
