Akwaaba Group CEO, Dennis Tawiah, has heaped praises on multi-award-winning musician, Sarkodie, for his immense contribution to the Ghana Party in the Park event.
Last year’s edition saw the Ghanaian rapper assume the role of the creative director for the event which was held at the Trent Park in London.
Sarkodie, who happens to be the most featured Ghanaian artiste on that platform came across as the best person to take up that role because of his vast experience in the music industry.
In an interview with Sammy Forson, Mr. Tawiah mentioned that Sarkodie did not only perfectly execute his role but acted as a father to the newcomers on the show.
“Sarkodie came with the idea to be the creative director and to select the artistes going to perform, to be able to give them direction and also to be able to host them in the UK. Sark managed to get a few stakeholders like YouTube, Sony and some good A&R people to meet and also have discussions with them just to teach them a few things they needed to know because a lot of the artistes we took last year were young, up and coming artistes. He played that key role not just as a creative director but as a father as well,” he said on Hitz FM.
The CEO of Ghana Party in the Park, however, revealed that, due to Sarkodie’s busy schedule, he will not assume that role at this year’s edition.
According to him, his involvement will still be felt since his relationship with the platform is one that has been solidified over the years.
“We are going to pick a different artiste because Sarkodie is going to be busy this year. He, however, will be on the phone guiding us,” he told Sammy Forson.
“He is always going to be a part of the Ghana Party in the Park. He is the artist with the most appearances,” he added.
Ghana Party in the Park is an annual outdoor festival held in London for the Ghanaian Community in the diaspora. It has been hosted by Akwaaba Group since 2005.
The festival attracts over 8,000 people, making it the biggest Ghanaian event outside of Ghana. It also attracts visitors from the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Ghana.
