The Hope Xchange Medical Centre, through the USAID, has established an ultramodern pathology laboratory to expedite and improve healthcare delivery to the people in the Nhyiaeso Constituency and beyond.
It comes at the time when some health facilities are faced with broken down and inadequate medical equipment in the Ashanti region.
Established in 2016, the Hope Xchange Medical Centre is one of the few health facilities in the sub-region with ultramodern medical infrastructure.
The hospital supported the expedition of COVID-19 tests during the height of the pandemic.
Head of the Laboratory services, Peter Brenyah said the medical equipment has come in handy to support not only daily healthcare services, but also research work.
“The laboratory was assisting the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and KCCR to run tests for COVID-19 samples. These facilities had a lot of backlog, but because we had some of the equipment like the Gene Xpert we could use to support,” he said.
The equipment found at the facility includes; Gene Xpert for clinical analysis of diseases such as tuberculosis.
Others include; histopathological equipment, an automatic Stainer, -80 refrigerators among others.
General Manager of the hospital, Dominic Osei wants government to support the expansion of facilities at the hospital for improved healthcare delivery in the region.
“The hospital still needs some health professionals to advance the services that we are rendering. As a growing hospital, there is a need for more equipment.
“The place is full to capacity. We need to expand the facility to accommodate more patients.
“The hospital plans to establish a maternity and children's unit to help in providing quality of care to the mothers and babies,” he said.
