The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is threatening to boycott the Party’s regional executive elections scheduled for Saturday, May 28.
It follows the removal of the names of some Council members from the Party's election register.
Chairman of the Council of Elders, Reverend Mark Adu-Gyamfi, told a press briefing on Friday that six out of the 10 of its members' names are missing in the album.
According to him, the names have been replaced with that of unknown persons.
Whilst describing the situation as unfortunate, he said it is a sign of disrespect to the Council members and their office.
Flanked by aggrieved Council of Elders, Rev Adu Gyamfi revealed members will seek redress by petitioning appropriate quarters of the Party for necessary action.
An affected member, Nana Wiafe Ababio, stated that members will boycott the delegates' conference, adding that the development will affect the Party's quest to 'Break the 8' in the region.
"We submitted 10 names to participate in the polls, but they've removed six names in the album and replaced it with unknown names. We don't know those names, so we're not going to vote tomorrow."
"With this kind of attitude, it will be difficult for the NPP to break the 8. Therefore, I won’t bother myself to campaign for the Party anymore."
