Power supply to the nightclub owned by rapper D-Black, has reportedly been disconnected.
This followed accusations by the National Taskforce of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that the operators of the club had connected power illegally.
In a Citi News report, the task force is said to have discovered the club, Oasis Pool and Shisha Lounge in Accra, has been operating with power directly from the national grid- without a meter.
The alleged illegal connection has reportedly existed over a long period of time.
The task force detected the illegality during a visit to the club.
Following the power cut, officials of ECG, have served notice to the managers of the facility to report to their office for further interrogation.
D-Black’s facility is not the only place to suffer a power cut.
The ECG task force earlier in the year, embarked on a cause to clamp down on illegal connections and collect their debts.
In March, the National Task Force of the ECG cut power supply to the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) over debt to the tune of ¢49 million.
According to the Team Lead, Nene Shadrack Mase, the debt is affecting the operations of the ECG, hence the need to embark on such distress action.
Joy Business learnt that the task force was expecting GACL to settle at least 50% of the debt, but the GACL Company opted to pay GH¢1m.
This the ECG believed was not enough to cover the arrears.
