The Asamankese Circuit Court has sentenced a 28-year-old mining labourer at Akanteng in the Eastern Region to 36 months imprisonment for causing harm.
He will serve his jail term in hard labour.
The convict, Darko Hayford pleaded guilty to intentionally causing harm to Kofi Ayenu at Asuogya, near Akanteng with a knife when he appeared before his Honour Abass Abubakari Adam.
The prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Agbeko Novor told the Court that both the complaint and the convict are laborers with a mining company at Akanteng.
According to him, on February, 22 at about 10;40pm, some good Samaritans were returning from their business and on reaching Asuogya, a suburb of Akanteng, they met the complainant who had been stabbed and bleeding.
According to him, police investigations revealed that the two engaged in a brawl after a misunderstanding.
The Police Chief stated that Hayford Darko during the fight pulled a knife and stabbed Kofi Ayenu.
The convict, he said, was later apprehended and handed over to the Osenase Police while the victim was given a medical form to seek treatment at the St. Dominic Hospital.
After investigation, the convict was charged and sent to Court for prosecution.
