Ghana's Otto Addo who qualified the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup has sparked interest on Twitter today.
It was reported that the "Hero of Ghana" as described by Dortmund left Ghana for his German base because he wants to be made the substantive coach of the Black Stars after the World Cup qualification.
It was rumored that the head coach position was going to current technical advisor Chris Hughton.
According to tweeps, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided to give into the demands of Otto Addo. Sports journalist @SaddickAdams says the contract with Ghana will terminate at the end of the year.
The GFA is, however, is yet to release a statement confirming Otto Addo's role in Ghana's quest to winning this year's World Cup.
But already, users say they are optimistic the Black Stars will go far under the management of Otto Addo.
Ghana heads to Qatar
On Tuesday evening, March 29, the senior national team led by head coach, Otto Addo, secured a spot at the World Cup tournament after beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria. The game ended with a 1:1 scoreline.
However, Ghana qualified based on the away goal rule.
Thomas Partey opened the scoring in the 10th-minute of the game after sending in a thunderous strike from outside the penalty box to give Ghana the lead, but William Troost-Ekong equalised for the home side.
Despite several attempts from Nigeria in the second half, there was no goal to separate the two sides as Ghana secured qualification on the away goal rule.
On April 1, at the FIFA World Cup draw, Ghana was drawn against Portugal, Uruguay and Korea Republic.
This means Black Stars will play their first game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, then face off against Luis Suarez’s Uruguay and play their last group game against Korea.
