The Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is calling for an end to the acrimonious relationship that exists between the leadership of Parliament.

The Suame MP in his closing remarks, to end the first meeting of the second session, asked the leadership of the house to wean themselves off the mistrust they have for each other.

He also cautioned the MPs against making unfounded allegations against colleagues. A situation he believes threatens parliamentary democracy.

The Suame MP said this in the closing remarks delivered on behalf by the Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin

According to him, baseless accusations among members of the house do not augur well for consensus building.

"Let me encourage all of us to engage in serious introspection and reconciliation with ourselves, with each other and with our creator God almighty during Easter.

He also commended MPs for eschewing violence in times of disagreement on the floor of the House.

"We are leaving this chamber back to our homes and constituencies knowing that even when we disagree we can express same without being physical," he said.

The Majority Leader added that "we agree that even if need be, we must use the tools available within the imperatives of the constitution to resolve such disagreements."

These will believes will accelerate the progress of Ghana's democratic credentials.
