In order to highlight the importance of legal education in the country, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has held a maiden induction ceremony for Bachelor of Law students (LLB).

The 247 students form the 20th batch admitted by the Faculty of Law at the KNUST.

“The induction ceremony is instituted in our Faculty of Law to underscore the seriousness of responsibility associated with commencing a journey of legal education towards one of the noblest and revered professions-the legal fraternity,” Dean, Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaa said.

He says the faculty has instituted strategies to make sure the students acquire the best of legal education.

“It is fundamentally important to make sure that law students are equipped with the right mix of skills and the best foundational education and practical training to flourish, to adapt and to lead in this brave new world.

“KNUST Faculty of Law is responding to this dynamic landscape intentionally and strategically. It is truly a place of innovation. Innovation in spirit and action.

With the first batch admitted in 2003, the faculty has grown to become one of the best faculties of law in the country.

Its alumni include ministers and deputy ministers of state, academics judges among others.

The faculty has won numerous awards, including the 2022 Baffuor Akoto Memorial Moot court competition.

Dr. Owusu-Dapaa hinted that his outfit has submitted a bid to host 2023 Christof Heyns All Africa Human Rights Moot Competition.

Deputy Attorney-General and an alumnus, Diana Asonaba Dapaah advised the students to be open-minded in their quest to be the high achievers.

“Be prepared to learn, unlearn and relearn. The world as we now call it, the global world, is ready for women and men who are creative and innovative in all spheres of profession,” she said.
