Ranking Member on Parliament's Finance Committee, Dr. Casiel Ato Forson has accused the Majority Caucus in Parliament of losing interest in their own business in the House.
According to him, the members of the ruling party “are not serious; they are not ready to govern.”
Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Friday, he explained that the Minority, unlike the MPs from the ruling party, appears to be ready to execute parliamentary business every single day.
His comment comes after Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh called out the Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo, for holding the government to ransom.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP said his colleague MP, should bow her head in shame for frustrating government business in Parliament.
He also lamented how the Gender Minister who has been on leave since August 31, 2021, is throwing a spanner in the works of government business knowing very well the 8th Parliament is hung.
“If the person decides to sabotage government and they care less about the effect of their action, it is difficult to control such a person,” he said.
Reacting to this development, Dr Ato Forson said his side of the House “cannot be blamed” for the absence of the Members of Parliament who are supposed to be present in order for the business of the day to be carried out.
“Let no one create the impression that we are trying to sabotage government,” he said.
According to the former Deputy Finance Minister, the NDC MPs in Parliament “are ready to work with the government.”
He therefore asked the Majority MPs to be present and vote on issues if they are ready to govern.
