An ardent listener of Joy FM has expressed frustrations over the failure of the government to provide potable water to some communities in the country.
Speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show on Thursday, March 17, 2022, Michael stated that "a nation that can't provide water to its citizens in 2022, is a failed nation."
“It’s a shame and some of us are down for our mother Ghana,” he added.
Discussions on Thursday, March 17, 2022, edition of the show centered on a report about the unavailability of safe and potable water for residents living in the North East Gonja district.
The report was filed by Isaac Nonya, the correspondent for the North East region, and contained details of the daily struggle of residents in the District in search of clean water.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) of the District, Mr. Mohammed Musah Tinbwuu, corroborated the contents of the report. He emphasized that there are about 86 communities in the District, none of which have access to potable water. Therefore, the residents have no option but to share water from streams, dugouts and dams with cattle and other livestock, as those are the only sources of water in the district.
Against this background, Michael the listener advised government to prioritize the provision of potable water for all residents in the country. He further expressed displeasure over the state of the health and education sectors in the country.
