Musician Black Rasta says some Jamaican artistes see Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artistes as copycats of their craft.
According to him, these artistes believe that Ghanaian musicians are infiltrating their industry, imitating them and taking away their source of livelihood.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, Black Rasta noted that the Jamaicans are therefore fighting to be the ones that benefit most from Reggae/Dancehall music.
He said that Jamaican artiste Luciano, after travelling to Ghana and socialising with some people in the music industry, granted an interview to Jamaican media saying that “Ghana is full of copycats.”
Blakk Rasta claimed that Steven Marley, son of Reggae legend Bob Marley once said no one has the right to benefit from the genre except his countrymen.
Black Rasta revealed that some of his Reggae icons at the backstage of a show told him to venture into other genres of music and leave Reggae for them.
The Reggae icon noted that this, among other things, influenced his decision to dig into other genres of music.
He noted that some Ghanaians are wrong for perceiving his move as abandoning Reggae, with some people calling him a "sell-out."
But Black Rasta said he is not perturbed, adding that as an artiste, he can be inspired to dig into other genres of music.
