Accra Hearts of Oak’s 26th Week Glo Premier League home encounter with Wa All Stars at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Sunday has been rescheduled for Monday at the same venue.
Match Commissioner John Albert Owusu announced the decision after consultations with Class One Referee S.K. Gyasi of Nsawam, (the centre referee), and his assistants Reuben Laryea of Tarkwa and Ato Mendz of Sunyani.
The referees had inspected the field which had been rendered soggy after day-long rains and concluded that the ball could not flow easily. The ball, when bounced off the field, died off on return while a pass on the soggy grass appeared heavily restrained. The technical areas had also turned into mini pools. Players of the two sides were on the field of play chatting heartily when the decision was told their skippers.
At the gates, a handful of supporters anticipating a postponement, waited under umbrellas unwilling to ‘dissipate’ their cash if the match was not going to be honoured.
Meanwhile Keesben FC will also engage Gamba All Blacks at the Anane Boateng Park at Abrankese on Monday. Their Glo league was also rained off.
