Countdown: 3 days more to Ghana@65

Ghana, formerly known as Gold Coast, will in the next three days celebrate its 65th anniversary since gaining independence from British colonial rule.

President Akufo-Addo has been taking to Twitter to consistently remind Ghanaians of the big day ahead.

On Thursday, he reiterated the theme for this year's celebration, "Working Together, Bouncing Back Better."

He also shared an infographic that honoured the founding fathers of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), popularly known as the "Big Six."

They are; Kwame Nkrumah, Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey and William Ofori Atta.

"These are the men, who in August,1947, laid the foundation for our struggle for Independence."

On February 28, President Akufo-Addo honoured Sergeant Adjetey, Cpl. Attipoe and Pte. Odartey Lamptey while commemorating the 74th anniversary of the 28th February Christianborg crossroads shooting incident.

According to President Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s story of 65 years of independence is one that speaks about hope for a prosperous future. This year’s independence celebration will be held in the Central Region.

Cape Coast is a world heritage site and home to the Cape Coast Castle.
