Music group 'DopeNation' has dismissed reports indicating that they extorted money and seized music rights from visually impaired singer, 'Adelaide the Seer', for their collaboration last year.
According to the group, the reports are false and their relationship with Adelaide is intact although they did not sign a deal to continue working with her.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, B2, a member of the group said “We heard a lot of things. We also saw a publication on the fact that we were not working with her anymore and we angrily took all her accounts and music and all that but that is not it.”
“We were looking for who brought out the news, but we realised that we would end up destroying our relations with certain people. It was an issue that needed to be tackled in a different way, so it was better not dwelling on it,” he added.
'Adelaide the Seer' became popular after 'DopeNation' released some songs with her. The duo said at the time, that they had some five beats they wanted to give out to artistes.
They saw that she was a perfect fit for those, hence they decided to work with her.
The duo later parted ways with the singer stirring up many rumours about their relationship.
'DopeNation' told Andy Dosty on Thursday that there were many issues to consider then, and that hindered their signing of a deal.
“Right now, we can be bold and say she is a certified gospel artiste but then, she also had a lot of things she wanted to explore. We didn't get a chance to go on a deal with her to work more. It will have a lot to do with issues at home and connecting with the fact that she's supposed to be an artiste.”
The group noted that this has not affected their relationships. They explained that the main reason they went in search of new people was to give an artiste those five beats to ensure their music have positive effects on lives. With, 'Adelaide The Seer', the group believes they achieved that aim.
Despite the lack of a deal, 'DopeNation' said they are willing to work with the artiste whenever possible. 'Adelaide the Seer', they stated is featured on their new album 'Atta'.
“She is very talented. We have a song with her on the album. We are looking forward to shooting a video but we have had to seek permission from her parents and guardians.”
