February is always exciting and this is because it is the month of 'love' in English Langauge, 'amor' in Spanish and 'amour' in French.

Today is February 14, 2022, and it is Valentine's Day. Ghana goes red and so will other parts of the world. Husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, friends with benefits will show love to their partners.

In Ghana, the sharing of chocolate appears to be the symbol of love but others go beyond that and mesmerize their loved ones.

The celebration of Valentine's Day has different origins. One is linked with the Roman Festival of Lupercalia, which was known to be the festival of "fertility" and the other, to remember the death of St. Valentine, a Roman priest.

It is said that Valentine defied then Emperor Claudios Gothicus' orders by secretly marrying couples to spare husbands from going to war. When this secret finally became Public, St. Valentine was beheaded by Emperor Gothicus.

Social media users have taken to Twitter to celebrate the day. They comment "Happy Valentine's Day" and accompany it with a red love emoji.

Others go the extra mile and leave a heartwarming message to their better half, briefly talking about how their lives would not be the same and how they cherish their partner.

The day set to celebrate lovers tends to leave those without partners perturbed. They most often hide but this year, they have come out of their shells and are now a supposed association.

They call themselves #SinglePeopleAssociation.

On Twitter, cards bearing individuals names and their positions in the Association have been circulating.

In a satirical way, they speak of how they have been single for a significant number of years and no one in their lives to spend the day with romantically.
