The five-member Committee established by government to manage the Apiatse Support Fund has indicated that donations made to support Apeatse victims will be saved at GCB Bank and Stanbic Bank.
Chairperson of the Committee, former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, made the announcement while addressing the press on Wednesday.
"We didn't want to receive any money when we didn't have a bank account. So there were quite a number of people waiting in the wings.
We need bank accounts. We cannot receive your money for you not to know where we are going to place it. So, we have got bank accounts now. One is at GCB Bank, and the other is at Stanbic Bank," she said.
Rev. Aryee noted that the account name is Apiatse Support Fund. Persons can donate at GCB Bank with the account number 101130036123 and Stanbic Bank with the account number 9040009974967.
According to the Committee, a website has been created, and donors can contribute their quota by accessing it.
"We recognise that we live in a modern era. So we have a website: www.apiatsesupportfund.com. We can even pay on the website by using https//marketplace.usebillbox.com/096. That is for Stanbic Bank," Rev. Aryee said.
She noted that the members of the Committee will on Mondays and Wednesdays make themselves available to receive cash donations.
"However, whenever there is a need to do so in between these two days, we will be available because we would like everyone to have the opportunity to give towards the fund," she added.
Donors who prefer to contribute by cash have been urged to call 0554550550 or 0209313952 to arrange a presentation of their funds.
This is to enable the Committee to organise themselves.
Donation to Apiatse Support Fund
President Akufo-Addo on January 27, made a personal donation of ¢100,000 to the Apeatse Support Fund which has been established by the Lands Ministry.
The President was the first person to donate to the Fund.
He said the donation was his personal donation, and that government will support the Fund with the necessary resources to rebuild the community.
The President expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Receiving the donation, Dr Joyce Aryee thanked the President for the generous gesture.
She was hopeful that the President's donation will encourage more people to donate to the Fund to support the victims and the reconstruction of the community.
