Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) say they will withdraw their services from February 1, over car maintenance allowance and 13th-month salary.
They say the 13th-month salary arrears covers both 2020 and 2022.
In a letter written to the CEO of the Hospital, Dr Oheneba Danso, the doctors stated that the hospital has refused to follow through with a directive from the Finance Ministry.
The Ministry has directed Heads of Agencies/Facilities to comply with the implementation of the signed conditions of service.
The letter said the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association decided after an Extraordinary General Meeting on January 14, 2022.
They emphasised that repeated communication to management on the matter was yet to receive an official response.
Management of the hospital is tight-lipped on the issue despite the expected impact of the strike on healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region.
Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), located in Kumasi, is a 1200-bed hospital, the major referral for the Northern sector, serving 12 out of 16 administrative regions.
It also receives patients from neighbouring countries such as Ivory Coast and Eastern Burkina Faso.
