The host of Onua TV’s breakfast show, Blessed Godsbrain Smart alias Captain Smart has been cited by the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for the offences of defrauding by false pretense and accepting or giving bribe to corrupt a public officer.
This follows police investigation into an allegation of corruption in which the Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta was accused of receiving a bribe of ¢25,000.
The allegation was broadcasted on both Net2 TV and Oman FM by Kwaku Annan in August of last year.
According to sources, Captain Smart had received an amount of ¢25,000 from taxi drivers and a resident of Achimota Mile 7 on behalf of the Roads Minister to halt the development of reserved land by a private developer in the area.
The piece of land was being used as a taxi rank by taxi drivers in the area.
Captain Smart was supposed to present the money to the Minister as a ‘thank you’ present for his intervention.
However, after police investigation, it was revealed that the Minister had no such knowledge of the money and had not received it either.
Captian Smart after extorting the ¢25,000 from the victims, per the police report, did not present it to the Minister as was expected.
The police are readying for prosecution.
